About Carbix
Built to Solve the Hardest Part of Climate
Construction accounts for roughly 11% of global CO₂ emissions — and almost none of it has a credible decarbonisation path. Carbix was founded to change that.
The Problem
Cement Is the Blind Spot of Climate Action
The built environment is responsible for nearly 40% of global energy-related carbon emissions. Of that, roughly 11% comes from the materials themselves — primarily cement and concrete — before a building is ever occupied. This is embodied carbon, and it is almost entirely unaddressed by current climate policy and industry practice.
Portland cement production releases approximately 0.9 tonnes of CO₂ per tonne of cement produced. Global production exceeds 4 billion tonnes per year. There is no electrification pathway, no renewable energy fix, and no incremental efficiency gain that gets this to zero. The chemistry itself produces CO₂ — and the world is building more, not less.
Our Story
Founded on a Specific Bet
Carbix was founded on the thesis that mineral carbonation — a process that permanently binds CO₂ into stable building materials — could be engineered into a commercially viable, industrially scalable platform. Not a research project. Not a pilot. A product.
The founding team spent three years in materials science and industrial process engineering before writing a line of business plan. The core insight was simple: the construction industry does not need a new material. It needs the same material — supplemental cementitious material — produced with a radically different carbon profile. Drop-in compatibility was non-negotiable from day one.
Today, Carbix operates commercial reactor units co-located with industrial emission sources, producing ASTM-certified SCMs that are specified into real construction projects. The gigaton vision is intact. The path to it is now a product roadmap.
Our Mission
Gigaton-Scale Sequestration. Drop-In Compatible.
Carbix exists to permanently sequester CO₂ at gigaton scale by converting it into certified building materials that the construction industry already knows how to use. We measure success in tonnes sequestered, tonnes of cement displaced, and cubic metres of concrete that carry a net-negative carbon profile.
The Team
Built by People Who've Done This Before
The Carbix team combines deep expertise in materials science, industrial process engineering, and climate-tech commercialisation. We have built and operated industrial systems, taken products through ASTM certification, and closed commercial contracts with major construction buyers.
We're Hiring and We're Raising
If you are an engineer, scientist, or operator who wants to work on the hardest decarbonisation problem in construction — or an investor who wants to back the platform that solves it — we want to hear from you.
